When do gauges start smelling

But for valentines day my boyfriend got me the metal tunnels I've been wanting, and when I put them in they cut my ear and it started to bleed, which I expected. But ever since I;ve put in these tunnels my ears have smelled whenever I take them out or move them, Like I'll slide them in and out, because the tunnels are kinda long, but they ends don't go through my ear, and when I take my hand away my fingers smell bad.

Is there anyway to stop this? I do clean them with rubbing alcohol, which I've heard can be bad but It works on keeping my ears clean, and my ears can get infected easily so it keeps it from getting infected. My ears arent infected because they aren't red, and they don't hurt. They just smell. And I know this sounds gross but I also know its common. But ugh I want it to stop! It's ear "cheese". Basically, your stretched piercing is reacting as if it is fighting a foreign object, like bacteria, etc.

This is exactly what the tunnel is. Wooden plugs and tunnels allow your skin to breathe and also irritate the skin less, so it produces less build-up. Silicone jewellery may also reduce the odour — it is non-porous and non-reactive, so it does not accumulate bacteria or irritate the skin. This works for me and I do not get any odour at all from my stretched ears. Everyone is different, but with regular cleaning, massaging and appropriate jewellery you should be able to reduce stretched ear odour once and for all!

Dirt, Oil and Lymph Buildup Your gauge may start to smell if dirt, sebum, body oils or lymph collect and build up. Cleanliness Avoid gauge odor by washing the area two to three times daily with unscented, antibacterial soap and water.

How to Fix Big Ear Holes. What Causes Piercings to Smell? How to Remove Sebum Plugs on the Nose. My skin is verrrrrry sensitive. When i was about 17, i got particularly loaded one night, and both my plugs fell out.

In the morning, i went searching for them and found them in a pile of muddy leaves. Not one of my best moments, but something possesed me to put them straight back into my ears.

Needless to say, they got extremely infected. The gland behind both of my ears swelled and leaked, the result was extremely wet, crusty, smelly lobes.

I had to take out my plugs and let my ear holes shrink back to regular size. That is my favorite part of a 00g, if ever you need to take them out, your ears WILL go back to normal. You can wear regular earrings after a couple months.

It took a few more tries at stretching and infecting, but i finally decided to try bone and wood plugs, instead of acrylic, and natural material plugs are the only reason i was able to successfully stretch my ears again after that stupid, stupid decision i made.

My ears still get that cheesy stank only stretched lobes and belly buttons can produce. But as with anything stinky, good washing and drying routines are a great remedy. Clean regularly, as you would any body part. Keep calm, and guage on! Jem September 28, A distinct paranoia of stretching lol. I think most forget that even when you ever first have your ears pierced, that this can be an issue.

Rachael Young April 21, Alright, so people freak out about this topic. Unless you have very, very poor hygiene no one will be able to smell your ears. Even with new, healing piercings you will suffer the smell.
